does anybody know how accesible these treks are at this time of year:are most of the facilities open on the torres trek at this time.and could anyone give me an updqte on the current weather and expected. is it looking as if the passes are going to be open early: also is it really busy at the start of januqry or is there more time before it gets crazy. thankyou
Mid november can be tricky with the passes. It depends on each year as it can be very different. 2 years ago, all november it was virtually impossible to do passes above the treeline in Tierra del Fuego as there was a lot of snow left. This year it should be ok, at least at this moment. There is still snow left but not too much. But in november there can be snowstorms at any time in these region even below the treeline. The pass in TDP can also sometimes be tricky in november but again difficult to predict. Weather is highly unpredictable in southern Patagonia. The Dientes circuit is usually not very busy even in the middle of january. TDP can get pretty crowded, but the full circuit is great and the best parts are not so crowded

Four of us (parents in 50's, kids in 20's) are arriving Punta Arenas the afternoon of Nov 8, departing EARLY Nov 16, so 7 full days, including travel to/from PA. Having a difficult time getting my arms around whether to plan on hiking the Circuit or the W, and whether to plan to stay in refugios or camp. If camp, plan to rent tent and pad in Puerto Natales to avoid carrying it elsewhere. Plan to bring sleeping bags. But have read repeatedly about need to make refugio reservations, so must decide now, as time is getting pretty short. Would really appreciate help with decision making!
