Keimbeggra you mean the Spectacled Bear. Was lucky enough to see one when rafting down the Tambopata . At the time didn't realise how rare it was and we went there is a bear without taking photos

wow what a luck!! I know there should be some in the Yungas and the eastern slopes of Cordillera Apolobamba in Bolivia, but they are so shy (with all the illegal hunting going on here the bear has a goood reason for it) that it´s hardly impossible to see some

It was plain luck but that was the advantage of rafting in the wilderness from the Andes down to amazon basin. At the time we were just hoping to see a jaguar. The bear look just as surprised to see us in an area where we didn't seen anyone else for 4 days.
Every year in BC particularly in grizzly country someone from Europe or the UK becomes a sitting duck for a bear (yum soft and fluffy on the outside crunchy on the inside). They always have carefully hung their food out of reach, the bear can’t reach in but on investigation catches wind of the tent, they have an extremely good sense of smell and go for the tent that has fried spam grease on the inside of the vestibule from last year in the Alps or wherever.
Yes California is not an issue with griz, but black bears are as likely to muck things up here as well as there. The rule in BC is don’t cook in your tent don’t use a tent that has been cooked in, break the rule only in areas without bears, which is nowhere in this area, Black Bear walk into the suburbs in North Vancouver.
