nepal in may-maoists and monsoon time

Interest forums / Trekking & Mountaineering

our first time in nepal, we came to pokhara and decided to do the jomsom trek.
although may is not the first choice for trekking in this area, we had a great time and good views to the peaks.
you just shouldn't mind some rain in the afternoon and some leeches on your shoes... (salt mixed with oil is the solution - thank you, ram!)
also thanks to ram, our guide (you find him in the jomsom treks agency, pokhara), we were well informed about the actual situations with the maoists (there were no problems for us and we didn't meet people, who had any trouble) and we found good lodges and dhal bat all the way!
we think, low season is really worth going to nepal, the treks aren't that crowded, the locals take some time to talk to you and the atmosphere in the forest is very special.
we liked it very much!
c u next time, ram!
bye
