Material for going to climb in Thailand

Interest forums / Trekking & Mountaineering

Hy!

I'm going for climbing in Thailand, Krabi and Phi Phi in couple months.
I'll be in Bangkok for couple days before heading to Krabi;

Which climbing material would you recommend to take with me?
What isn't maybe essential and that i can find there directly, in Krabi, or Phi Phi, or Bangkok?
Is there climbing stores where i can buy material if i need to?
just the rope itself is so heavy!!

thanks a lot!
waiting for climbers answers!

I know the problem well!

What you need depends on whether you are going for sport climbing or multi-pitch. For either you need the same gear that you would use in France. Obviously the weather is warmer and more humid in Thailand.

There are climbing walls and outdoor shops in Bangkok. You can find them with Google "climbing shop bangkok". What they actually have when you get there is very variable. IMO, renting gear in Thailand is not a good idea.

You might consider taking climbing gear, including a rope, only and buying everything else (clothes mainly) in Thailand, where it is cheap. I usually do this for Asian rock climbing trips.

Je vous dis merde!
