If anyone has a trip diary for Marangu, I would be interested to read it. I climbed Kili via Machame, nearly 2 years ago, but my teenage son will climb with his school on Marangu. Would therefore be nterested in getting as much info re that route. What are the huts like ? What is available to buy - am told water/chocolate that kind of thing. Do you need a mattress, or are the ones provided adequate ? Anything else I should know - if anyone has climbed via both routes, would love to hear your thoughts on differences, degree of difficulty etc. Thanks.

Hi Chritine
We have already been to kilimanjaro about three months a go and we did machame and the following week we climbed marangu route. The reason we decided to do both route we was making reserch about which route is more beatifull and easier to ascend to the summit without a problem. On our reserch we discover marangu is easiest one and there is no needs of Tent and mattress all provided by kilimanjaro national park .About what you can buy at the huts on marangu is water and beer only. The huts also is good.Marangu route the difficulty is only the day to ascend to the summit which is very steep compare to machame route. Both tour we did with company called kilimanjaro wildlife safaris and mountaineering in moshi town and we are group of 17 people from Spain and the service it was exlcelenty. If you want to get more details about huts i will recommend the company above.
