I am going to be doing a cancun/belize/maybe a little bit of guatamala and then honduras backpacking trip.
Is there anyone out there that can suggest a volcano that is easily accessible and only takes a full day to hike? I am running on a tight 2 week budget of time and I hope to factor this in to my tripping. Anything I can do with out a guide would be ideal....I would just like a trail and a guide map at the head of the trail.

Cheers

Guatemala is the place for Volcanoes. If going alone as well as a map I suggest you take a gun to reduce possibility of being mugged. Also suggest you ask the question on the Guatemala forum.

Yes, many choices in Guatemala, particularly around Xela, Atitlan and Antigua. I have climbed Tajamulco and San Pedro, but did both with guides ..... as is the norm, due to the risk of robberies on all of these trails.
