How to obtain permissions for mountaineering in China?

Hello,

anyone who has experience in obtaining information/permissions for mountaineering in China? I have tried to contact SMA and CMA (Sichuan/Chinese Mountaineering Association) via an e-mail in English, got an automated reply "Thank you for your e-mail, we will reply ASAP". Written in Chinese... Are e-mails passed on to the cylindric archive (aka "litterbin") unless I communicate with those guys in Chinese?

Some other hint for obtaining necessary permits (I am looking for a somewhat independet expedition, to limit the involvment from travel agencies)? Since I am planning to go in May, time is going to run short...
