Hiking in Egypt

Hello peeps,

Has anyone got recommendations for some treks/hikes in Egypt away from the Sinai region? I hope to go there to see the usual ruins/archeology/felucca thing along the Nile later in the year but would like to break this up with a few hikes without having to get all the way over to Sinai. I would mainly be interested in walks that gain a little height - either day walks or two/three day-ers. Any info would be much appreciated (water availability, ease of hiking independently against organised).
