Hi all -

We have 10-11 days this summer to trek through the Alps. What I'm looking for: high peaks, good passes, some glaciers, and a mix of lodging - would like to stay in mountain huts some nights and village hotels others.

Recommendations?

The Haute-Route is of course nice. If you buy this book below then you'll not need any maps or anything else other than good walking shoes if you plan to stay in lodges.

Another option is a little farther north, the Alpine Pass Route. I really recommend this website

There are of course many many other areas, and by in large they are all great. I hiked a for a long time in the Alps two summers ago so ask something if you have any questions.

That time window is also long enough to walk the E5 from Obertsdorf, Germany, to Merano, Italy; with most of the time spent in Austria's Tirol region. That is a popular and well trodden long Alpine crossing.
