April destination ideas

Interest forums / Trekking & Mountaineering

Hi, can anyone suggest a destination for the start of April for a mountain walking holiday? I would like to do it in the style of using one place to stay as a base and drive to different locations for walks into the mountains each day, as I do in the UK in places like the lakedistrict. I do have a lot of trekking experience but due time constraint don't have time to organise anything big so just looking for a simple trip in my Easter holiday. Thanks,
Daz.

Southern Marocco is possible. Also the Lycian Way in Turkey (but that's more for backpacking). Further away, Southern Utah in the U.S. Possibly India (Uttarakhand).

I agree, if you're up for the flight (to Las Vegas - cheap flights and rental cars) - southern Utah, USA.

2

Kasturi trek or the Karvendal area in the Austrian-German Alps.

3

Andalusia (Spain).
Majorca.

Wouldn't be bad to be more precise...
How much time altogether, getting to and back not included?
How much you can afford? Is money a limiting factor or not?
Are you entirely on your own or with family or friends?
Agree with poster before, Andalucia and Mallorca are good choices for april.
Other options are Canary Islands, Madeira, Sicily, Corsica, for sunny weather, nice temperatures, great landscapes...

I am going on a vacation much like the one you are planning. Therefore I will share my plan because it might inspire you. I have rented a car in Charlotte, NC, and I will drive South along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway where there are numerous hiking opportunities including Linville Gorge and the Shining Rock/Cold Mountain area. The Parkway ends in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park where there are hundreds for great hiking routes. I will use the car as my base and sleep in it and it will take me to the trailheads.
