I'm sure y'all are much more experienced trekkers, but...

I have an opportunity to hike for about 3-5 days in late June/early July in Georgia. I would like to do part of the Appalachian Trail. Any pointers? Particularly, am I able to do about 10-15 miles a day comfortably and either stay at the shelters or camp and then be able to hitch a ride after about 40 miles (from the start of the trail, presumably)....I can't seem to find very detailed info on the AT website...

TIA!!!
