Take a hike from the Vereh River valley in Central Costa Rica up the back side of Mt. Cherripo. A father and son run a camp in very rural Costa Rica, south east of San Jose. It's just the two of them running an ecotours business and because it's a 6 km hike into the mountains after the last bus stop business is slow. Along this hike you'll see hot springs, waterfalls, the old glacial lakes and also get to see how some of the native Costa Ricans live.
Besides the week long backpacking trip they also have great day hikes and it's an experience to meet some of the neighbors in the Vereh valley. Check it out, San Agustin Jungle Adventure www.geocities.com/vereh_ecotourism<BR>

How about trekking the high level route across the pyrenees, from the Bay of Biscay to the Med. i looked into doing it a few years ago, and reckoned it would take about three to four weeks. never got round to it though.
or how about riding across the Mongolian steppes on horse back?
good luck whatever you decide to do.

Hike the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, you start in the late winter early spring on the Mexican border then go north.

do the 7 summits, and work on the one you climb.
So far I've worked on all continents except South America, and climbed the highest mountain on all contenents except North America.

When the USA becomes a law-abiding country again I'll head to Alaska to do McKinley.

Drive or cycle the Pan-American Highway. You can start from the shores of the Beaufort Sea in Deadhorse and drive almost the entire 25,800 kms (minus about 100kms in Panama) to end up in the town of Puerto Montt, Chile.
That is one of my "dream trips" - don't know if I'll ever get to do it, but it would be amazing!
