I think we may need a new router, this weekend our connections are slow slow slow again. We should be getting good speeds, when we first changed providers about 2 weeks ago, the speed was great and all pages loaded fully.
Now, it is slow again and photos on FB are not loading fully - yes I know a major problem!

As I have absolutely no idea what I should be looking for, hoping someone here may be able to help.
The current one we have daughter bought and just bought a brand which is compatible…

My dad gave me his Canon camera he'd bought in 1960 to take to art college. After travelling 70 countries, it finally packed up in Canada in 2006. It worked, problem-free, for 46 years!

Since 2006 I've been through 5 digital cameras which have packed up for various reasons including grains of sand in the on/off switch - non of which have been replaced by the useless guarantees given!

Out of interest, I did a calculation on the cost of the digital cameras I've bought since 2006, and the cost…

I have read conflicting things on this forum regarding this.

I just picked up a Kindle Paperwhite. I have the non 3G version, and in the Experimental Browser setting, I have been checking and sending email, browsing the web etc, even though the people at Best Buy said you can't. While this is not as easy or convenient as a laptop or tablet, I do think there is a potential use for this setting/device for the world adventure traveler who wants to travel light, is visiting many countries, and…

HI
I don't have a GPS (apart from on the phone - but don't want to use data ) we are renting a car for 2 weeks in NOLA - the rental company want $ 14 per day - that's about $200 ! I can buy one for under a !00 at walmart. Seems simple but having had no experience with them how hard are they to set up? will it work straight out of the box or do i need to somehow activate it or connect it to a computer and the web? Looking at Garmin and Tom Tom. There will one of us navigating so I don't think we…

I posted this idea in another thread and I was told to start a new thread about it. How would you guys feel if I was able to somehow automate the research process behind travel- so all the logistical stuff would be figured out in the back end? I'd need your guys help though. It would require me to leverage the information I and everyone else knows about these destinations to create an itinerary for travelers based on their interests. It would take me a day to put a site up, and then i'd be able…

Hi all,
I'm looking for info from people all over the globe. I'm currently looking at buying a new phone and the iphone 5 (unlocked) is probably what I'm going to go with. I would like to be able to bring it with me when I travel around the world at the end of next year buying local sims for it every now and then (when i'm in one country for an extended time, eg. 3 months in the US). However the iphone 5 uses a nano sim rather than a standard sim, are these readily available around the globe…

Hello,

I am planning to do around 4months of RTW travel, maybe more, and I plan on only taking one bag. I am considering buying a new camera for this. I currently have a Canon Xsi Rebel DSLR and while I love it, it is a pain to travel with. I'm hoping to find a smaller camera (if not pocket sized, then only a bit bigger) while not sacrificing too much quality wise. I do have a pretty tight budget but am willing to pay more for a better camera, I definitely want to come home with a bunch of good…

Hello all; my girlfriend and I leave on June 5 from the USA for our grand adventure... We fly into Oslo and plan to hitchhike to Russia after spending a month or so camping in Norway. Then we plan to stay in Russia until the colder months at which point we hope to hitch to southern Italy and spend the winter WWOOFing or doing something similar.

We have a Straight Talk pay-as-you-go phone with no SIM card, and are wondering what our options are. We'd like to have a phone that people of every…

In the next few weeks I am beginning a year long around the world fellowship. I am in the market for a computer for this year. I have been looking at ASUS computers as I am hoping to spend under $350 but wiling to go a little bit higher. I have a MacBook for when I am in the states but hoping to buy a new computer to lessen the chance of it getting stolen. I am looking for something fast, hopefully light, long battery life, camera to video with, USB ports, and that can merely do internet/word…

Hello,

I have looked through the forum but I don't think these situations have been posted before.

My husband and I will be work-traveling in Iceland, France, Germany, and Benelux for July and August 2013. At the end of that time, I'll be working in France and he'll be working in Germany for the academic year and probably longer.

We are looking for two different phone solutions during this time:

1) Sim cards that will work in all of our traveling countries (with the possible exception of…
