…what do you do about digital camera choice?

1) SLR all the way?
2) “SLR like” camera?
3) Compact & SLR – one for fun easy pics the other for the more serious pics?

What camera do you have (add link if you are happy with it) currently & how much did it cost you?

& if you plan to upgrade – which one do you want (add link please)?

I am trying to send a PM, and when I put in the name of who to address it to, and click the 'compose' button, nothing happens. I double checked that I am entering the username correctly. Do I need to change a setting somewhere or something?
Thanks,
Tuttley.

Free and paid versions of the popular antispy have been updated. Mixed reviews, but its early days yet. I can say it looks great, starts and runs fast, but as to how effective it is? Time may tell.
One thing to watch, 'specially for those on a slow system, is it installs a service,(which can be stopped and set to manual) and it uses 20Megs on my system, without the program even being open. And the column dividers for the results are invisible, you have to mouse along to find and then move them.

The last (I hope) decision in buying a laptop is:

How long would a laptop battery need to last before re-charging in class?

Is 2 hours enough?

I do intend to get the student an extra battery, but that would still be a total of 4 hours.

Some feedback suggests that in most situations while at U of T, there is usually a power outlet nearby?

If you can be bothered read all "I don’t like" or just skip to the questions at the end…

Whilst we (eventually) get fantastic results with our 7mp digital camera (½ compact ½ SLR) it does take such an effort to get there. Things I don’t like:

1) It’s practically impossible to “point & shot” – it almost always require some adjustment

2 ) It has no ‘anti-shake’ thing so I find it very hard to take pics on full zoom/low lighting.

3) In low lighting (not using flash) it is always too red & has to be…

I have a GrandCell Dual charger that recharges both Alkaline and NiMH. There is a warning sign on the back that states “charge only GrandCell batteries”. Is this true or are they just trying to protect themselves legally if someone puts a non-GrandCell battery in and there is an adverse reaction? What would happen if I put a non-GrandCell in?
On the topic of battery chargers, here are another two questions.
The reason that I don’t take this charger overseas is the weight. For such a small item it…

Does anybody know where I can find detailed manuals on the various programs that come with OSX such as Mail, Calendar or Address Book etc.

I am really thinking about something for absolute new beginners to computers who basically have no clue at all. The booklet that comes with OSX is not too helpful and I couldn't find anything on Apple's side either that goes into detail. Of course there is Help within the programs but that already is too complicated. I need something I can print off and which…

Please, excel users: why is this happening? I can download an excel file from my work's site, open it, save it, try to use it and it says it is protected and needs a password. When I downloaded it at work, it worked fine. So I put it on my memory stick, brought it home and again it said it was protected. A colleague can use it at home without any troubles and e-mailed it but again it's asking for a password which I don't have! Why isn't it working?? Any ideas please!

After asking 4 help on digital stuff + just read Greenwagon's review on Canon Ixus 70, i thought
Sharing our experience on worst condition travelling and digital stuff could be interesting.
Name the stuff and in a few words, the weather or travel conditions it's been through and wether it worked or not after that.

Sthg like :

MP3 "nanothingy" with recording option : 5 days trek in costa rican jungle. 80% humidity. Function X and Y affected.

Digital camera "ikon coolpik XY" : 20 days in Afghanistan…
