I have been shopping around for a few weeks now on my travels and online stores and i dont think i will get the Cannon EOS 400d kit any cheaper than this $930 AUD, including 18-55 mm lens, 2 gig card, international warranty, carry bag and tripod, from a Cannon dealer in Kuala Lumpur. My spouse and I are taking off to do a backpack tour of Latin America and later this year will be in Eastern Africa. I am a (beginning) photographer and ready to jump into SLR. We have tried a friends' Canon Rebel XT and really have enjoyed it around the States. However, is it safe to take it (on renter's insurance) abroad to Central America and Eastern Africa? I hear such mixed things -- what are your experiences? Any tips/suggestions?

I recently purchased the MEC Sojourn travel pack which comes with a removable day pack. MEC Sojourn

The day pack is okay.. but I find it pinches my shoulders at the top a bit. I was wondering if it is possible to find day packs that are more comfortable that I can attach to my full pack instead? Ideally a day pack which had zippers and clips to attach it.

Quick question for the technically minded! I recently invested in a new zoom lens for travel (a Canon EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM). This lens is a lot bigger and heavier than my old zoom lens and I wanted to see if my camera would still fit in my 'toploading' SLR camera case.

I have a very long audiobook I have downloaded onto my mp3 player and I want to delete the spoken "Disc x" at the beginning of several files and the "End of disc X" on several more.
