Wireless broadband access for iPad in Indonesia

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect to a local Indonesian broadband service (such as Telekomsel or Smartfren) using an iPad? The advice I've seen here is all for PCs using a USB stick (which won't work on an iPad). I'm guessing it would be software that would be downloaded to the PC in Indonesia, which would allow the iPad to access the network, but I don't know if such a thing exists. Thanks!
