I have recently bought a MacBook Air which has a thunderbolt port which, apparently, is incredibly fast. I bought a thunderbolt cable and connected my Nikon D300 to the MacBook using the hdmi port on my D300. Nothing happened. When I connected the D300 with a regular cable to the USB port, the MacBook recognised it and I could import the photos. Any idea what I'm doing wrong with the thunderbolt cable? I am new to Macs (after an absence of 12 years).

the D300 supports 'Thunderbolt' ... through the HDMI port ??? I think not. The problems not your computer - its what your trying to do to your camera. Stick with USB.
