Hi everyone

Im flying out to Switzerland in a week and i want to take my laptop with me but i am unsure of what type of adapter to take. I have heard that there are different types of sockets etc in Switzerland and have come across a 3 pin and 2 pin adapter and i am unsure which one will work .

Here are the specs on the laptop charger sticker:
Input: 100-240v 1.5A 50/60Hz
Output: 19v 3.16A

Based on this what would be the best type of adapter for this and if it helps i will be staying in Bern and Basel

You just need a plug adaptor. There are many universal ones that cover several plug types. Usually 2 pins are the same as 3 pins without a ground pin. You can usually run modern electronics devices on 2 pin plugs.

Yes, you just need a plug adaptor. My biggest problem is always that the corners of the swiss' plugs are not round but triangular so german plugs for example do not work. Easiest way is to buy the adaptor in Switzerland that shouldn't be a problem in the bigger cities.

My newest scheme is to buy a piece of wire and a plug (once I know which one I need) and tape them to the cord. Matter'o fact, am typing this on a netbook with Swiss plug that I use here in India - also did it on an Indian iron that I brought to Switzerland. Buy the wire long enough and you have a nice extension cord. Bet you save a buncha francs on adaptors.

Buy the junk at Migros (downstairs) in downtown Bern. Or Coop Bau + Hobby if you can find one in Basel.
