Looking to recharge HTC and Sony mobile phones (mine and her's respectively...) plus ipod and Kindles.

Anyone have thoughts on the subject - specifically regarding chargers bought here in the UK and used both in the UK and elsewhere - Portugal, Sicily are destinations on the agenda over the next few months...

Thanks in advance...

Or even solar chargers - not used a computer for a week and didn't spot the typo!

Joys of a very relaxing break soaking up the sunshine in and around Devon - the tan is starting in advance of the Portugal trip in 14 weeks time...

Check out the Solio Bolt. Mine works great keeping my iPhone, iPod and iPad Mini charged on the road.

Portugal, Sicily. Where will you use it? Leave it outside your tent while you roam around the island and use it in the evening?
Have a cup of coffee and place it into the sun and then the phone is charged after half an hour?

Question is can you leave it some place unattended in the sun all day long? How fast will it charge?

How long does it take until the solar panel completely charged the battery? How long until that battery needs to charge your phone?

If you are really away from the grid for long times solar might be worth looking at. If not an external power bank which you charge from the grid might be the better solution.

Mine is powerful enough for 3 complete recharges, takes about 2.5 hours to charge the phone, maybe 5 hours to charge the power bank.

We'll stick with the original question regarding solar chargers thanks as we have no idea as yet as to where we will be staying because we're making up the first trip as we're going along and could end up anywhere apart from being in a tent...

I've posted this here as I'm also trying to track down a former work colleague who bought a Power Monkey device around 18 months ago for his travels with a phone and an iPod...

I'll hopefully get some feedback when we touch base, but until then, please keep replies to the subject of solar chargers!

My advice is to get a solar charger with a battery. One that can also be charged up via mains electricity. That way you charge the battery all day, then plug your device in at night to charge.
