I'm planning to travel in South America from September to Januari. I want to put some photo's on my weblog and on a online photo-album. At home I have a simple program to make photo's smaller. How can I do that in internetcafes? I think it's not possible to download a program? I wonder how you all do that!!!

When I did it a few years back, I used Irfanview. That's probably your best option too.

You're right, some places won't let you install software, but if you look around you can usually find somewhere. It also depends on where you're going; some places already have software installed.

If you can't find somewhere that allows you to edit your images, you could try uploading them fullsize to Flickr, it'll automatically produce smaller sizes for you. Unfortunately you'll need a reasonably fast connection to make that a viable option though.

Finally; remember that making an image small enough for web use means it won't print nicely, so make sure you keep your originals safe!

Resize Pictures On-line

The problem with upload route is that it requires a fair amount of bandwidth; either that or it will take quite a long time...

This is what I do...

Find an internet cafe that uses windows XP as an operating system. It will recognize most cameras with out having to load new softwear. Upload your pictures to the "my pictures" file. They can be resized and edited there using the system picture manager.

Delete your stuff from the computer after you're done sending and you're away.
