Hi all, | ||
I use GIMP. Although I've never used it, there's a forum on this site... I don't know if that's exactly what you want -- discussions might be more about image editing? | 1
I've posted photos for critique on two photo forum sites. The first was at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/ . They're a friendly bunch but offer little helpful to one past the beginner hobbyist stage. Most of the critiques come from the same regulars. I found it frustrating that almost no one elaborated about composition other than 'nice composition' and if anyone besides me ever mentioned symbolism I've forgotten about it. The next site was http://www.photosig.com . Most critiques are hit and run, covering image quality, cropping and post processing. However, the quality of photos is higher, there are good photographers posting and critiquing there. People do talk about the details of composition, symbolism, POV, timing, etc. One must critique to post so one will get critiqued but it also means unless the photo is compelling one won't get more than 3 critiques. It's frustrating to receive three critiques that all talk about image quality, especially when I mention in the comment posted with the photo that I can see the image quality and don't need any feedback on that. Both sites have sub forums for discussing technique but I've paid almost no attention to that part. steves-digicams has a single critique forum. photosig allows one to select categories for their posts. There are categories for photo journalism and travel. Some critique writers comment in many different categories, some specialize in their area of interest. | 2
There was a nice one started by a TT contributor some years ago that was just what you wanted. Doubt that it's still around, but maybe this posting will bring someone who knows better. | 3
Hi, you all people seem experienced persons there. Actually I want to ask some question about the photography. First thing which type of camera(minimum mega pixel ) we should have for the professional photography. second what you people use for the editing the photos and what is difference between the GIF, JPG other images. | 4
Chester, go buy yourself some digital camera magazines. Read 2 or 3 of those and you`ll be a bit more knowledgeable to start off here. To twist you a little, here is the Swiss version of Consumer Reports - http://www.ktipp.ch/inhalt/ Lots of camera stuff in that issue. | 5
Thanks for the replies, peeps. Maybe a TT photo section should be started (or didn't there used to be one?) | 6
