They limit the download size to 256 megabytes per download, so you can either download the whole country in low resolution or specific areas in high resolution. I was able to download the entire Annapurna trail in a few hours on google maps, google earth and google terrain. Now I'll have to check if the GPS would mark my exact spot on the offline maps while in the field!

Well, it works accurately in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, so should work in the Himalayas too.
My download limit is 500 MB per map with Orux, works pretty well for detailed maps for the size of entire Bangkok.
I set detail level to second or third highest, that shows even small alleys in good detail. Highest detail level is not really need - and would need way too much data.

Hi Ricio, it was the effort, you could use GPS to find you're location relatively easily, as tools said you can download maps on a very high level of detail. Recommended.
