After 12 months on the road we have about 40 hours of mini DVD video footage. I can't even be bothered to look at this much, let alone subjecting my friends to it! I'd like to edit, possibly add our own voice or music soundtrack and create our own videos. What is the standard video editing software for this type of thing? And, can we trust the software if we get it in Bangkok?
Thanks, Mark

One of the best and most widely used pieces of software is Adobe Premiere but at USD$700 a license it's not cheap!! You could of course find yourself an illegal version in Bangkok, but there's no guarantee that it will work.

Videostudio is good and not too expensive. I've had good results with this.

If you use a mac, check out idvd. It's free with new macs & under $100 as part of the ilife suite if you don't already have it on your computer. Great piece of software for what you're looking to do.

Adobe Premiere is certainly the best that you can get but, it's a pain in the ars* to learn how to drive it.

If you are a novice user, I'd be suggesting either the VideoStudio range (I think their up to v9 at the moment).

But if you are looking at just doing the one series of editing, just use the inbuilt M/soft one in XP. It's very simple to use and it's free (if you have XP).

#3 I'm sure you must mean iMovie?

OP, if you're Windows, then by all means get Premiere in Panthip Plaza or Fortune Town in Bangkok. It'll work just fine, and on a basic level it's not difficult to use.
