My current mouse (Sony MSAC-US5) has a scroll switch between the mouse buttons - you pull it towards you and it scrolls down, push it away and it scrolls up.

I prefer the switch to the scroll wheel that's found in most other mice - unfortunately this one's worn out, and Sony, being Sony, discontinued it ;)

Does anyone know of any current (optical, USB) mice that have a scroll switch instead of a scroll wheel?

If the worst comes to the worst, I suppose I could fix this one, but it's over six years old, so I'm sure there must be something better out there by now...

Ideas? TIA :)

Hmm. I know what you are talking about, but i've only ever seen 1. before and i think it was a sony too.
even at the local computer fairs we have in Oz, where all kinds of cheap computer gear from Asia is sold i've not seen one.

i'm thinking its a sony idea gone to waste. It does sound good though, i'm not a huge fan of the scroll wheel.

good suggestions - annoying that they're both wireless though, but at least they give me an idea of where to start. thanks!

a-ha, there's a wired mighty mouse - that might do it :)

that said, is the thing in the middle like a laptop nubble, or a mini trackball? the apple website describes it as a ball...

I used the corded one by IBM at work. It looks like the one you described above, OP.
