My laptop either died or went into a coma and Im forced to use this Acer One netbook for a while. The biggest problem is theres not enough menory. It has a stock 1Gb DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM Module.

Cant find the answer on any of the Acer sites (It is a German Acer, but that shouldnt matter), but does anyone know if a 2Gb or 4Gb would run in it? Don`t really wanna buy a chip and have it not work. Stores get a little uppity about that sorta thing.

It really depends on the model, and if the motherboard can actually handle/process a larger RAM chip. Post the model ..

Yeah, "Acer One" is not specific enough. But I'm quite sure that you could at least exchange the 1GB memory module for a 2GB one, any reasonably modern chipset should be fine with that. 4GB might be a problem.

Kinda what I figured as well, mpjohans. Just thought I`d get another opinion. Shame their support options are lacking technical info. Oh well.

Hmm, thanks for that.

That sheet was the closest Ive come to seeing this units model number ZG8, which is why I didnt say it before. None of their sites list one similar to that. It has a 250Gb drive, so I`m sort of guessing it falls in the --

1 GB, can accept up to 2 GB

category. Not really too keen on the flash memory in the card slot, but I guess Ill see what is at the store. And I think at least a couple of you know that the store is in India... Tis why Im asking here before I go to the store ;)

It's probably close to the AOD250 version, then: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/netbook/0000/Acer/AspireOneAOD250/AspireOneAOD250sp2.shtml

In any case, it should happily accept a 2GB DDR2 module. Flash memory will not satisfy your craving for more RAM...

No but ... if you could pop a 32 gig SD card in, install Windows on it and use it for the boot up disk - your overall speeds would improve dramatically.

Or go to crucial.com, download their safe software, and it will have a look at what you have inside, what slots are left, and make a recommendation (so you buy from them in Idaho US)
