MAKING CDS IN MP3 FORMAT

Nero would do it if you have it installed. Most burning programs should have an mp3 burning facility.

I use a program called Ashampoo Burning Studio which you can download for a free 30 day trial. It has a simple drop down list for burning music where you chose either "burn audio CD" or "burn mp3 CD".

You can fit about 10 albums on a CD in mp3 format.

You don't need any extra software. In iTunes set Preferences(Options)>Advanced>Burning to Disc Format: MP3 CD. Note that iTunes won't allow you to convert any songs you downloaded from the iTunes Music Store (which are in AAC format) to MP3s. No problem with music from CDs, though.

Windows Media Player 11 converts too provided you choose that setting when ripping the music.

Many thanks for your feedback. I have iTunes on my computer so I will investigate that method. If I have any more problems I'll get back.

If offers a number of differrent file options including MP3.
It will also connect to the web and pick track titles etc. Very easy to use, works well and it's free.
You will also need some form of CD burning software to burn the files to disc.

No you won't. iTunes does it all.

Thank you again for those who helped. I've just successfully burnt four CDs on to another CD via iTunes. It's incredibly easy in spite of the message that comes up when I inserted a blank disc telling me to cligk on the "Burn CD" button in the bottom right hand corner of the iTunes window. There is no "Burn CD" button in the bottom right hand corner and I do have the latest version if iTunes. I just did it via "File" and then "Back up to disc". Dead simple and very quick.

Ooops, I spoke to soon. Having managed to make the actual recording, why doesn't it play on my MP3 Discman? I presumed that iTunes, having completed the recording, would automatically finalised it, so why can't I get it to play? It plays on the computer that did the recording.
