We're about to embark on a year long RTW. I want to keep the camera as low tech as possible as we'll be spending plenty of time in remote areas. For instance, I'll hopefully be using a camera and mp3 which run on AA and AAA batteries so I don't have to worry with prong converters.
I am looking for suggestions on how to store the images for the year we are away. Multipe cards, and hope we don't lose them? Can we depend on offloading images to something like photobucket using internet cafes in third world countries?
Thanks!

Really depends on how much you're shooting. Multiple cards may do the job; but you're right, losing them would be a pain. You could burn them to CD as you go. Or you could buy a standalone device to store them on your own hard disk. All those options, and a few more besides, are covered in my FAQ under OnTheRoad/StoringDigitalImages - link at the end of this post.
I also have a few portable storage device reviews online:
Nexto CF Ultra ND2525
CompactDrive PD70X (Hyperdrive HD80)

Thanks. Just working from cafes in random places, how easy would it be to burn disks do you think? Or would it be easier to take the card to a photo shop and have them burned from there?
It really depends on how good you are with computers.
Also depends on where you're going; some places you can't move for places to burn discs, others you'll be searching for a while.
I think in your shoes I'd take them to a photo shop if possible; but wherever you take them remember to check that the disc works properly on another computer before you delete your pictures...
Always reformat the memory cards in the camera after you've burned them to disc successfully, that way the format matches what the camera expects, and hopefully you'll have wiped out any viruses that may be lurking on the transferring machines.

Jeff,
Depending on the size of the images you are going to be taking, it may not be feasible to copy them to upload them to the internet.
And, as you are going to remote locations, the chances of cyber cafes may be hit/miss.
I think the best option is to take a portable hard-drive unit and store the photos on that. When you do get to a cybercafe, you can then arrange to have the images burnt from the PHD onto DVD's.
Cheers
