Ipad mini v's Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Hello,

Okay I think I have narrowed it down to two tablets to take to Europe with me. I can get a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 16GB for $126.64 AUD or an Ipad mini 16GB $45.64 or 32 GB for $157.32 AUD.

I played with both a little today, but could see the benefits of both. The Samsung can have its memory expanded and believe easily connected to any laptop. But can I use itunes on the Samsung.

I have read and watched many reviews online about both and they seem pretty close.

I posted earlier and my main reason is for email, surfing the net etc movies, music, books a bonus. As said previously I probably will not use it all that much other then for my travels, so am I better off just getting a 16 GB ipad mini or paying the extra and getting one with larger memory or even going the Samsung?

Will 16 GB be sufficient if I watch movies or store some (not many) photographs on there?

I know ipad has facetime & skype, but can you also skype on the Samsung Galaxy?

Sorry for all the questions but technology really confuses me.

Just another addition, I could also get an Ipad 2 16 GB for $106.39, but thought the smaller version would be better to carry around whilst travelling for 3 months.

Or a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 16GB for $71.14

Okay me again,

From what I saw the mapping seemed to be better on the Samsung then the ipad for seeing what sights are in the vicinity - but maybe I was using the ipad wrong.

Also does it really matter that there are so many more apps of the ipad then the samsung?

Where are you able to buy these tablets for these prices? Samsung galaxy tab 2 16 GB is $277.00 in Office Works and more elsewhere. Samsung G tab is a bit laggy anyway, imo but it's good enough. Don't get an iPad of any sort, too ridiculous, too many drawbacks, no versatility.

Get whichever one you feel comfortable with. 16 GB is not large though, but generally ok. mine is full of stuff, but for storage of photos not great.

Both samsung/Android and apple iPads have pros and cons. #3 points out restrictions, but they both have restrictions, people say they want to have unrestricted access, in reality they never need it.

FYI i have a Samsung galaxy S3 and an iPad 2, so i'm not some biased fanboi. Get whichever one you find easiest to use, generally less technical people find iPads better. Don't buy a cheap android tablet though as many people found out, not having a licensed store to access is a pain for the not so technically skilled. Stick to a Samsung if you do get an android tablet.

Both are different product both having their own qualities and both are having their own pros and cons!!!even both are having different os in my personal opinion you can not compare it!!!!

It's a +1 r.e. where you're picking these tablets up for those prices.

I'm looking into a compact tablet for traveling and backing up my RAW files from my camera onto an external hdd and it's looking like the best all round option is the Nexus 7. They're coming down in price bit by bit due to the new model being released in 5 or so weeks. But this is in the UK and if you can hold of the afformentioned tablets at those crazy prices I'd go for both!
