Good afternoon,
I am spending 6 months in Rome but some of the accommodation I am looking at does not come with internet connection. 24 hour internet connection is vital to my stay. Any advice on options? Should I contact the local Roman telco or is there something I can set up before I go in Australia?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Franmay

I'd suggest to have at least a backup internet connection ready, when you're looking for 24 hour internet access. This could be a prepaid cellular internet connection supplied by WIND. There are various options to share a 3G cellular connection over WIFI.

In case the 3G signal is weak, consider adding hardware that has an (outdoor) antenna .

Another option is residential WIFI from a possible (free / paid) hotspot nearby - or have a chat with one of the neighbors to discuss sharing their fixed line internet connection over WIFI with you. They already might have it and just have to supply you with the WEP/WPA key.

If they don't have a WIFI hotspot, just a fixed internet line, this requires installing a WIFI access point (router / switch) in their home. In most cases a simple operation, though it requires a bit of trust on both ends.

Good luck,

Hi.
I would suggest getting a pay-and-go sim in Italy.
It'll probably be about €12 a month.
You'll have little problem finding one, that comes with a bucket of internet included in the monthly tariff.
