I have a few videos that were taken on my Nokia phone in .mp4 format. The videos sound perfectly fine on the phone but when I transfer them to the computer, the sound is almost non-existent. When increasing the speaker volume to full blast, only then can I hear the sound.

How can I increase the video volume? I have adobe premier and after effects but am not sure which one I should use and how. Can anyone suggest a free video converter or simple method to increase the volume?

Use Premier and see what you can do - if anything. Usually it's 'garbage in - garbage out' in these scenarios.

Yeah the mobile, won't have recorded the best sound, sufficient for playback on the phones speaker, but pretty ordinary on asnything better. You shopuld be able to amplify the sound, i'm not sure the best way though. Should be p[lenty of tutorials though on the web.

The sound quality of the videos sounds fine when I turn the volume up full blast. Its just that the volume of the files is ridiculously low - even when I play them through the Nokia suite software. I tried to figure out Adobe premier but its way too complicated for me. However, I found a program called audacity, which seems to work well in amplifying the sound with minimal noise. Its a roundabout route of fixing the audio but at least it works.

Try the VLC player, You can increase sound to 200%. The KM Player you can increase it even more and you can make clearer any human speech.

Strangely another player at 100% might work better with those files. It's a matter of trying them all out.

But as said you'll only have a tiny microphone with your phone so not a lot of good.
