It depends on the neighbourhood you live in.
I live in a very rural area with few houses about and I have a 140 yard private path to my house. My lights and a radio are on all the time as though someone is in.
I left home September 12th 2011 and hope to get back for a quick visit for the first time next month. I'm 1200 miles away at present.
Have you got someone you can trust who will look in on it, or maybe a house minder who will drop in once a month and check everything is OK?
