Hi all, I just came back from my Spring Break getaway and got like 300 pics. Not sure how to organize these stuff.
Any suggestion? Thanks!

Wellllll....
On my hard disk, my pics are in folders by year. And under those, the folders are by subject/place and the name is preceded by a number i.e. 1India, 2Switzerland to order them chronologically. Under individual folders is a subfolder for pics resized for an online photo site. The originals never get worked on and re-saved, only copies.
Back to your quantity, few people want to see all your pics at the same time, maybe never. Take the 8-10-12 best for each category/location and post those online.

Hi Pirate_at_50! Thanks for the idea.I will not bore my audience with 300 pics. :) I thought of putting all those photos into a slideshow, photo book or something. Did you ever try that?

Here's a link to a recent thread about this subject with some good ideas:

Naw, used to have a great photo site, but it later closed. Now I am getting all my stuff back on to Photobucket. It's good enough.

PhotoBucket is nice. I used to putting some of my photos on Facebook and some on Flicker. Thinking about making a slideshow or something... Would be nice to try...

What I do is sorting the pictures by the next structure:
Country / City or Place / Year /
That is the easiest way to find the needed picture for me, as I can not remember the time I have been there. But I exactly remember the place where the picture was taken.
I used Downloader Pro to download my pics to my pc. I have it so that the files are listed in date order (when they were shot), with the location and then finally the individual number of the pic - 2012.03.21_location_number.
As I shoot mainly with my DSLR and always in RAW I use the free "instant jpeg from raw" software to make copies of the embedded jpegs form the RAW files and then use these for day to day use like uploading to facebook etc - the files are tiny and a hundred can be converted in around 10 seconds.
As for how to host them, yeah, use the above link.

I'm a big fan of Flickr as I can move stuff around and have items in multiple sets and collections. So for example, I could have a picture of the Great Wall of China...and I could have it in my "China" set, my "Famous Structures" set, my "Favorite Places" set etc. I could have those sets as part of larger collections. Or I could tag the picture with several tags that allow me to sort it.
Really the sky is the limit. I set up my flickr to do two things 1) Organize my pictures in a way that makes sense to me...so that I can remember my trips. and 2) Label and tag photos so that people who want to search for those items come across mine and find them useful.
I know that is vague, but there really is no WRONG way to do this. Do what works and makes sense for you. You take photos to remember your experiences and since that is the case, you shoudl arrange and store them in a way that tells that story.
