I know I have no right to complain, but I WON a free Macbook off of my local radio station and I hate it. I cannot do anything with it. It froze up on me and I can't install simple things, I just don't get it. I thought the whole thing about the macbooks is that they are supposed to be so easy, so what the hell! What should I do?

Well, it's "found money" so you can either sell it, or keep it and try to learn how to use it. If interested in keeping it, imo, you should register and pose questions on the Apple forums. They do hold their value, so if you decide to sell, it should be a quick sale.

It should also have a guarantee...

Backup all your data, check you have the OSX discs, reformat it and reinstall. Macs tend to get seriously upset by strange things, like a corrupted font, or something equally trivial, and finding it will be tedious - as it's a new machine you shouldn't have much on it yet, so a backup shouldn't be too tricky.

Once you've reinstalled, go to the Apple site and download the latest patches for that version.

If it's still flaky, send it back - if it gets sent back, make sure you back up all your data first - they may do the reformat as a standard troubleshooting measure anyway...

Throw it away...my direction. And buy another one...or just quizz for another freebee.

Just give it to me. They're the coolest.

I have started to like it a bit more. I guess I am getting used to it now, just had to make the change from PC. Sorry I am not going to give it away.

Oh and another option - you could ditch OSX and use it as a standard PC with something like Parallels or BootCamp. Then you could use XP or whatever.

Uh-oh.....

Looks like you held on to it too long. It's started to take control.

Find yourself starting to mumble "my precious" yet?

;o)
