Thanks, saw that.

Looks like Oly didn't hit a home run this time.

yup, it's a shame, i thought from the specs it might be a good replacement for your old uzi... the review would suggest otherwise.

i think they came perilously close to dropping the bat altogether. strike1

how are you finding your pentax?

The K100D.

Some things I like. Responsiveness, IS, auto ISO range, quality of the images, viewfinder quality.

Some things I don't like. Lack of live histogram, changing lenses, mirror noise, lack of articulated LCD viewfinder, weight, size.

At this point I most likely will stick with the K100D. I'm still hoping for an EVF camera that has a better EVF than the KM A2, the ISO ability of the Fuji Super CCD, and a great lens (~28-300+).

I do think that this can be an excellent choice for some people.

RAW just isn't an issue for most people who take pictures.

And the image quality is pretty good. Lots of people are satisfied with less.

I can see this as being a good camera for the casual wildlife/birder shooter. Might be a good choice for daylight sports shooting.

We should remind ourselves from time to time that this is a general travel forum and not a forum for "advanced amateurs"/pros. Sometimes the discussions about cameras/computers/etc. go way beyond what the general user needs.

Hehe yes and sometimes the average user thinks they need a camera way beyond their skills and needs :-)

Same with lenses, i'm not a fan of 18-200 lenses, but many do like them. They are happy with the photos they get.
Personally my Pentax DA50-200 is a superb zoom and really light. I find i don't change lenses alot. it can be a pain but i enjoy the image quality i can get..
