Looking at travelling to UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Jordan, Israel next year and wondered on the best way to use my phone. I won't have a current Australian plan and figure this would be too expensive. Any ideas? Anyone have any experience with the Travel sim? Looks the easiest way but how are costs? Will be away almost 5 months
Thanks

You have to buy a sim for each country to avoid roaming costs.

Hi,

Roaming is very expensive.
As mentioned, it's better to buy SIM card for each country.

Ask your current phone service provider if they have a bolt-on you can add to your present subscription to allow you to use your phone abroad at reduced cost. Some do, some don't.

Even Telstras prepurchase data packs for international travel is so expensive that it is not worth buying.

Currently I am in the US and just bought AT&Ts no plan prepaid for 30 days sim with 2gb of data for $60....sweet as.

Buying local sim card will be cheapest but it means your number will change lots of time. Hard for family and friends to call/contact you as you move about.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I want things simple but at not too much exaggerated costs. Things to ponder.
