Hi guys!
This one goes out for all you digital camera experts!
I started yesterday looking for a new digital camera. Didnt know anything about digital cameras before I read one or 2 tutorial guides...So now I have a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for:I'll stick with the full body ones, cause the SLR are too pro for what I want... I've came up with a short list of what I'm looking for in a camera, I just dont know if I'm looking for an impossible camera...can u help me out, telling if there is any camera that covers most of these itens?
Not too heavy or bulky
Fast to turn on and to shoot
Zoom- 12x
Optical image stabilization
Uses Compact Flash ou SD memory
Has FAT 32 so it can read memory cards greater than 2GB
Uses AA Batteries (2 preferably)
Video Capture- 30fps VGA (640x480 resolution)
Video Capture- No limit, with sound and zoom
A large LCD screen
Megapixels and the price are not a very important issue...
Thanks in advance!

Yes, if memory serves, you've pretty much described the Canon S3-IS - try it before you buy though, in case my memory's having a bad day ;)

Really?
Thanx!
By the way, ur tutorial guide was one of the ones I read! Nice job!
Cheers!
If you want a smaller cam maybe the Panasonic TZ1, TZ2 or TZ3 will be of interest to you. I think the zoom is only 10x though which is generally more than enough.

Thanks for all the help!
I found this camera, Olympus SP-550 UZ,
Olympus SP-550 UZ
and I felt in love with it. It has an 18x zoom, with Optical image stabilization, so, I probably can get really great pictures (correct me if I'm wrong). All the other cameras have seen stay in 12x....
and Does this video quality is good enough? 640 x 480, 320 x 240, 30 fps??
And what about the speed of the camera? Where can i see that??
Cheers!

Yes - but again the zoom is partly digital. It's really only the optical component thaty is of any real benefit.
The 18* bit is a marketing ploy - it looks good but needs to be taken with a large pinch of salt.

David: I'm afraid you're reading DPR incorrectly, the S3-IS is a 12x optical - it has 4x digital on top of that. See (for example) here
the SP550UZ is really an 18x optical too.
Tiango: You can't see the speed of the SP-550UZ because no-one that I'm aware of has reviewed one yet - they're not available here yet either, however usually on the DPR reviews you find a page labelled "Timings & Sizes" - that should give you a rough idea when they review it.
