I was wondering i am planning on going to Boston in July for sightseeing and baseball. My question is what type of digital camera is perfect for sightseeing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One that works ...
It basically boils down to your budget. There's 325 different camera options - so finding that 'perfect camera' shouldn't be too hard.
If you are going to take photos of baseball, I suggest getting a camera with the biggest optical zoom you can afford (as long as its practical for you to cart around also). Forget digital zoom - its marketing hype.
I really think that you have to be a little more specific about what type of camera you are thinking about: a huge, expensive SLR with lots of changeable lenses or a small, compact point and shoot. Boil it down and then people can make some sensible suggestions.

???
There isn't one. There's no such thing as the perfect camera! If you want image quality, low light capability, high burst rate then shell out thousands on the latest pro-spec DSLR's and thousands more on lenses. Would that set up be handy to pull out to take a quick snap out of a bus window? No. Would a point and shoot freeze the motion of a baseball when shot handheld from up in the Gods? No.
If you want a decent answer then at least put a little effort in and then ask a half decent question!
(I'll clamber down from my soapbox now)
I am thinking about getting the Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS Digital Camera any particular ideas about this camera. I noticed it has a 4x4 optical zoom on it and it records 1080p videos as well.
Canon s95 and its an excellent camera
OP.... *Brixter1 - please check the very limited spec. on the Canon 'S' 95 before parting with any money.
It's an OK bit of kit, but has a very poor zoom, lacks the features of many present muchcheaper P&S's - and is extremely expensive for what it has (and hasn't got) on board.
Not a bad camera - but hardly excellent. In fact - far from it.
It's good to have a choice, but The 'S' 95 is rather overpriced and lacks many features.

Well, that was a very informative post #7 ...... absolutely zero information for the OP, except for you to continue your personalized bias against canon products and attacks on my posts.
There are excellent reviews for the S95, and that's been my experience. He wants the camera for "sight seeing" not for impressive photography. The S95 can be slipped into a front pocket, the pictures are excellent, if it is still expensive .... that just shows that it is a quality product and retains its value.
Why don't don't you offer the OP some actual advise and (a) answer his original question or (b) respond to his question in # 6?
Instead, you continue to make belligerent posts, attacking other peoples advice, and offering nothing in return.
