I´m travelling to China through Russia and Mongolia and I´m going to be going around for 2 months (and taking loads of photos). I was wondering if anyone knew is it wise or even possicle to develope digital photos in China? Can I expect good quality if I develope them there? Or would you advise to buy like 20 memory cards and just keep them with me until I get home? Is there any better choise for keeping photos safe while travelling?

I´ll be travelling in Beijing, Xi'an, Lhasa, Chengdu, Fenghuang, Zhangjiajie, Guilin, Longsheng, Yangshuo, Hong Kong and Macau. Does anybody know any places to develope photos with good quality in those cities or around them?

The two best ways of doing what you want are. Printing them all kind of defeats the purpose of having a digital camera:

1) Get the photos copied to CD/DVD as you go either at internet cafes of photolabs. Some people will get 2 copies and send one home. Others always do it at internet cafes themselves etc.

2) A portable storage device like a Portable HardDrive aka photobank to some people. These work by putting the card in the slot and pressing a button to copy the photos. This is

Of course some people take laptops with them too.
i'd expect most decent size Chinese cities would have somewhere to copy your memory cards to CD. just make sure you can read the CD on another PC before erasing the memory card.

I'm doing pretty much the same as you travel wise. It is no problem if you want to get photos developed here (in China). There are camera shops everywhere (easy to spot with all the logos out front) They do a good job and will touch them up for you and it costs very little, about 0.7 yuan a print. As well as this, for a few yuan they will put your photos onto a C.D. for you. However, when I tried this in Beijing it all went a bit wrong with my memory card and the computer wiped all my Trans-siberian, Russia and Beijing snaps and corrupted my memory card (thankfully I had backed them up). Im not sure what happened but just be careful. It is easy enough to buy memory cards in China for lower prices but it is quite a job trying to find a XD card, but it is possible. Hope this helps!

Oh, I forgot, Im not sure if this is everywhere or just Yantai but the post office refuses to send any C.D.'s regardless of content, so e-mailing photos home is the way to go it appears (well for me)!

Not sure what you on about, you can get 16GB by Sandisk for your 350D compact flash.
Alternatively you can get a portable hard drive with LCD or without.
Portable DVD or CD burners
Use a internet cafe and do it yourself
Get a store to do it for you.
