I have a stupid guestion.......

I have two Micro Stereo Systems, one is a Sony, the other is the larger Yamaha YST-C10.
The thing that is worrying me is,even when both stereos are off, they both are still giving off a little" Heat " from their vent slats ??
This is even if i didn't have them on for days !
I'm not saying that they are neccesssarily " Hot",but they are warm to the touch.
And the Sony is also giving-off a low audible " Humm",but the only thing that is on is a red light on the Power Switch ?

Is all this normal ?
Both systems are high quality, the Yamaha especially is about $ 400.00 brand new.

Thanks for your input !

Sounds like they're in standby, so yes, it's normal. Not good, but normal. Sometimes equipment uses a very small amount of power in standby, sometimes it uses a lot; the manufacturer (and amount of money spent) isn't necessarily a guarantee of which you'll get.

I suggest you unplug them at the wall when they're not in use, assuming you don't need the clock functions they inevitably have. It'll save you money on the electricity bill, and save energy too.

standby power consumption

If you're really curious you could buy/borrow an inline power consumption meter.

get an extension cord with an on/off switch - easier than unplugging the plug all the time
