QUOTE - "Anyway, any chance of going back on topic?? Did the OP buy a camera in the time this battery discussion was going on? "

Yes in reply # 35 he made the decison just as the battery discussion started - QUOTE - "Thanks for all the advice guys. At this point I think I am gonna go to the Sony RX 100. ".

I don't understand why it should be considered off topic , since its an important factor in in camera buying. Dismissing something as off topic seems a bit churlish when posters have made an effort to provide info , in any case you can scroll past it you don't want to read it.

To get back off topic:

1 hour 20 minutes for a full charge using a wall charger.
Second came in power bank.
Third USB charging.
Fourth AA battery pack.

For speed of charging.

Keep in mind that 'topping off' the battery via USB works only for those who shoot little.
The more you shoot the more 'topping off' you would need, the more the camera cannot be used.
Same goes for direct USB chargers, the more you shoot the more the camera is immobile and can't be used.

But there is the option of doing it overnight.

Of course.
If you get through the day...

200-300 shots typically on compacts per charge. Quite a bit less if you view and delete images and muchkless if you take video clips.

If you shoot quite a bit or take frequently vids extra batteries might come in handy.
Open up, replace battery, shoot some more.

Hi guys,

I wanted to thank everyone for their help. I finally bought the Sony RX100 and I love it. It's exactly what I am after and I don't mind the price tag because the difference to a standard compact camera is huge
