| smilingbuddah01:04 UTC18 Jul 2007 | Hello Friends Can someone help me out here. Im buying a battery charger in Canada traveling to China, Thailand, & Egypt. Do i need to buy a battery charger that converts 220V to 110V, or can i simply buy a regular charger and plug it in using a universal plug ? Is it the same with my cell phone , I have a Sony Ericsson Z520a ? Im told this cell phone has a built in converter. thanx in advance for all your help...........S.B.

A universal plug is just that; a plug. No electronics in it. Which means if you plug a 110V only appliance into a 230V supply, you'll get some very pretty sparks...
With your phone you need to check the charger itself; more on how to do that in my FAQ under OnTheRoad/Electricity:
