Travel on a shoestring

Wondering if I can get some help here? I have recently find out that I need to have surgery and the insurance I have for this trip only covers medical emergencies, accidents, accidental death. It does not cover for any pre established condition, Which it is what I have, a medical condition that keeps coming back.

Any info about very cheap tickets from Berlin to San Francisco or Oakland would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! We are a family of 5 - 2adults and 3 girls 12, 10 and 8 yrs. We want to head to Europe for the summer in 08, but need some ideas on where to go - our basic idea is:

Paris - 4 days
South of France (Somewhere???) for a 1 week stay (thinking of renting an apartment or house)
Italy (Somewhere???) for a 1 week stay (rent an apartment or house)
Greece for 10 days - maybe some islands and Athens...

The plan is to probably rent a car - or maybe do Eurail - any one out there with any ideas on which…

I am planning on being in Austria from 20-28 Dec and wanted to stop at a few places. Am considering buying a Eurail pass (Austria-Cz) but was wondering if the trains around this time will be too busy unless I reserve seats. Reserving seats from Australia (not Austria) can cost about $10 each - or is there a cheaper way?

Is there anything else I really need to know about train travel in Austria?

Myself and several friends are going interraling through Europe for a month from mid August, we really want to see some great places and possibly do some sporting activities if possible.

Ok, folks..I'm new to the forum, but not new to European travel. I've made around a dozen solo trips in the past three years. What's different now? My budget! I'll be in Europe for three weeks in September/October. Visiting Istanbul, Florence, Naples, Barcelona and Lisbon. I'm staying in hostels the whole time.

hi guys was thinking of whisking someone away to venice for the weekend sometime in july. only prob is money she'll shout lots if i pay for flights and expensive hotel :o) so any suggestions where i could take her thats cheap, clean and not so far out of centre it becomes a pain, were only there for 2 nights?

I have to agree with earlier posts, it's pretty confusing with so many different sites offering various Rail Passes in Europe.

We have a group of 4 (1 Senior and 3 Adults).
We are going to be travelling on routes:

nice - marseille return
nice - monaco
rome - florence
florence - pisa return
florence - venice
bordeaux - toulouse
toulouse - barcelona

We also were looking at a sleeper from lyon - rome, but have since found out it is now only Geneva - Rome.

What kind of pass would someone suggest for something…

We have 2 weeks and want to go to Croatia to travel down the coast, go to some islands as well. Then we would like to continue down to Bosnia /Herzegovina, Serbia/Montenegro) and if possible Macedonia (Skopje).
Can anybody give advice, which places are worth to be seen in Croatia, espescially along the coast?

We will be flying in from Germany. Would Zagreb be a good starting point or are there better located airports?
