Travel on a shoestring

I’ve just booked my return flight from Sydney to London for the 30th May to the 2nd November and I’d love some advice on my travel through Europe.

This is my very loose itinerary. It’s included all the places I definitely want to go (although, if I needed to I could cut out Switzerland/Austria).

3 weeks (June) - England staying with family.
1 week (June) - Scotland – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fort William
1 week – (July) - a potential contact to stay with in Dublin.
1 week – (July) Amsterdam…

I am deciding whether or not to buy a 5 day eurail railpass in Europe. (about $500~ AUD). There are two of us, 24 years old at time of travel, and we have 40 days to travel in May and June. We are travelling from Rome (ferry to Croatia, and back through Italy OR perhaps north through Slovenia, money and time permitting), through Switzerland, up to Paris (maybe via Nice if time permits), and into Belgium/Amsterdam.

Im finalizing my itinerary for a backpacking trip starting this thursday and ending late March. I will be covering major cities this trip mostly: Italy (Rome, Verona, Venice, Florence), France (only Paris), Greece (Athens and maybe some nearby places), Spain (madrid only), Portugal (lisbon) and Morocco ( Marrakesh, Fes and Casablanca).

I have learned from multiple previous trips to carry the smallest possible amount in my backpack and I am really tempted not to take my winter jacket with me…

Could someone please tell me the best way to get from northern italy (don't mind where exactly, maybe as far down as pisa?) to spain (barcelona). We are missing france on purpose as we are going to come back there, so were wondering if it would be cheapest and/or fastest to fly/ferry/train/bus?? Any help and suggestions would be great. i am planning for another trip to Europe, particularly, France, Germany and Italy. i've been to Europe before, but previously i got around on Eurolines buses. Now, i'm planning to go around on rail, with a Eurail pass.

However, i'm having some confusion here... would appreciate if anyone could help me out...

Hey guys, I'm currently based in England and would love to visit other countries in Europe during my Easter break (15th March - 4th April). There are a list of countries I wanted to go, but taking into account the wheather condition of late March I need some advice for where is the best to visit at this time.
