My first post.
Here goes: My dream is to leave California for 6 months and solo travel. I hope to do this as soon as I can save up the rest of the $15,000.
I want to see so many places, but I realize the best thing to do would be to stay in one region/continent and travel overland or something. The problem is, as you can tell, I'm very indecisive. This brings me to the following:
Where would you go if you had up to 6 months to travel and $15,000 to last you for that time (airfare included)…
Hi sorry if this is in the wrong place but absolutely ages ago there was a chap from Germany who made people aware of his website that allows people to put their houses available for travellers.
Basically not so much of a complete house exchange but the ability to stay at someones house/room/flat etc (usually whilst owner is there) at no or minimal cost.
Does anyone know what the website would be?
I know its a long shot but it was a really good website and covered Europe if not further.

Hi folks,
My boyfriend and I are getting ever closer to our long anticipated trip covering India, Nepal and South East Asia. We plan to depart at the end of January 2012 and although we have the India/Nepal itinerary sorted we are a bit stuck with SEA.
We will be leaving India around the beginning of April. I'm aware of the weather contraints of the monsoon season in SEA at this time but we've also read that some places become very beautiful in the rains and would like to take advantage of…
Hey world.
I am planning to do a 5 week trip anywhere in the world from July 20th of August 25th. I love adventure, backpacking, living off a shoestring, hostels, but most importantly, sun sun sun and beach beach beach and inexpensive. I was thinking Vietnamm, Peru etc but I hear they have wet wet seasons during july and august. Help would be greatly appreciated. I am travelling alone and would prefer to travel +6 hours from the UK.
Hi Everyone,
Me and my husband are starting a low-budget trip around Asia mid-July. I'm trying to figure out if there is any point in taking a lightweight tent and camping gear if we want to cover Lake Baikal, Mongolia, China and SE Asia. Couchsurfing is not an option everywhere and I though camping might be an interesting alternative to keep accommodation costs low.
I'm sure Lake Baikal and Mongolia would not be a problem for camping. I'm more concerned with China. Our planned China route is…
What has happened? I am so used to seeing Flight Centre as one of mu current threads but now it has gone!!!

Hi all
I have previously posted on the site explaining my situation.
Being made redundant from job begining of june

Have some time to just slooow down and enjoy life
Had some great responses already(thanks guys) and decided Bali was going to be destination of choice.
Now, the only problem that I have is the cost of flights from the UK
Again, lonely planet comes to the rescue, a fellow traveller advises fly to Kuala Lumpur.....Result!! Half the…
G'day all, basically getting ready to embark on a big trip with my wife... I will outline my basic plan and how mcuh i think it will cost the two of us and then i'd love some critiquing as to my chances of staying within that budget.
Basically we are shoestring travellers that would prefer to give up a few of the creature comforts (hot water, clean rooms) in order to have a couple of beers in the night time. In saying that though, we're not big drinkers or anything like that.
We've travelled…
Hi,
This winter I want to travel SE Asia/Oz/NZ for as cheaply as possible. I'd like to go from November 1 - January 31st (give or take) ...so about three months. I'm really enamoured by the idea of flying one way from Vancouver (I'm from Vancouver, btw) to somewhere like Bangkok, and then traveling overland/ferry/small aircraft, down through Indonesia, into Australia for Christmas, and then into NZ before booking a one way home from NZ. I just checked some flight prices and getting one way…
