Hello
My girlfriend and I are looking to get in fie weeks to a month of budget traveling this summer and were wondering where to go. Our original plan was a north to south Italy trip, but everywhere we read people hae warned us off of Italy in Aug. So where should we go? Our budget is roughly 2k a person not incld flights. We are based out of Canada and would loe somewhere warm,

Thanks
O

I don't know, why don't you just throw a dart at a world map. You've given no indication whatsoever of what your interests are so just how do you expect anyone to suggest anything? 'Somewhere warm' covers a whole lot of the planet.

The more intelligent the question, the more relevant the responses are likely to be.

I've heard raves about Croatia - similar cultural/recreational opportunities as Italy without the crowds and much cheaper. In general eastern Europe will be cheaper and less crowded, if it's Europe you're interested in.

BTW why have people warned you off Italy?

It is full of tourists (in August, and every other month as well ;-)

Italy is a great place to travel even in August, but not on a budget! What the proverbial made you think of it as a BUDGET destination?!?!?!

Try somewhere in SE Asia such as Thailand or Vietnam, or maybe a month in a S.American country if you want budget. Or maybe parts of EASTERN Europe, not western.

We have no idea of your tastes or criteria other than your 'budget' to give you any specific advice.
