Ofcourse it depends on your interests, but India does cater to all kinds of tourists, the rupee is weak, and everything is cheap(but getting expensive). A good double room could be got at just 15$,a single room even less. A non fancy meal wont cost more than 3$, transport is cheap, even a taxi with a driver wont be more than 40$ a day. An hour's bus journey wont be more than 1-3$,much much less in smaller towns.
And there's a lot to see,the himalayas,the deserts and palaces of rajasthan, busshist culture and extraordinary landscapes in ladakh and beautiful tropical scenery in kerala,the list is never ending.
