Hi

I am planning a trip to Spain around 20th December till 28th December and I would like advice on the following:

1) Places to stay in during our stay in Barcelona? We are two students on scholarship so our budget is limited!

2) Places nearby that we could visit and would be worth it-?

3) I am being told that there are these festivals in Barcelona around this time....is it true?

4) Any advice on spending one helluva memorable Christmas in Spain?(Culd participate in tomato festival or sumthing????)

Any help in either of the above four areas wud be appreciated

Thanx

..............and Cheers to travelling and travellers!

That time of year is cold, cold, cold in Catalunya. Most of your activities will be indoors. An exception might be a trip to Montserrat (look it up). Museums (Picasso, Maritim, Museu de la Ciutat) are a good bet, too. Take in a concert at the Palau de la Musica. There is an outdoor Xmas market around the catedral where they sell old-fashioned and traditional Xmas stuff and handicrafts; lit up at night; very pretty. Catch the Sardana dances in front of the cathedral at 1PM every Sunday afternoon (year-round, I beleive).

All the above refers to Barcelona.

Bon viatge!

Figures is a great day trip if you're interested in Dali. Also, Ibiza is easy to get to and a lot of fun, but expensive.

The Tomatina is held in August and is worth the wait.
