This is the plan, so far, of our trip around (Some of) Europe.
Just wondering if anything in this plan is unachievable or we are missing out on a fabulous area.

London - 10 days
train
Paris - 5 days
train
Bordeaux or Toulouse - 2 days
train (I don't think there is a train from Bordeaux to Barcelona)
Barcelona - 4 days
train (overnight)
Milan or Turin - 3 days (which do you like better, we are on a budget, so no big shopping spree)
hire a car then drive to
Verona - 1 day
(spend the night then drive)
Venice - 1 day
Fly/train
Rome - 4 days
Need to find somewhere to have Christmas, was looking at Switzerland, but its damn expensive, any suggestions.
Then train/fly to
Amsterdam for New Years,

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are 3 young women in our 20's and it will be my first Big trip around Europe, and the other 2 have never been.

Cheers

Bex

why not go to slovenia for christmas? its close to italy and cheaper.
youre going to those typical destinations where every other non european goes, missing out on most of true europe..there are so many small countries which have very much to offer, much more than some of these places you mention.
id skip verona all together. its not interesting at all..as for shakespears story, its enough for you to look around you and look at a stupid teenage couple who thinks they will love each other forever..till a month later they break up:)

I appreciate your Idea of visiting Bordeaux or Toulouse,
especially because they don't get that many Tourists.
Also Torino is the same category, go there.
From Toulouse there is a Railway Line to Barcelona via La-Tour-de-Carol leading through the Pyrenees (the Mountain range which separates France & Spain). For a Timetable see: www.bahn.de

The Night Train from Barcelona to Milano is a complete rip-off, see if you can do it otherwise.

BTW: In Italy you should take the Train (there is a direct Line Milano-Verona-Venice), it will be much cheaper than renting a car.

Please take your trime. Can´t see it all anyway department.
Ddrift. We´ve only heard of the most famous tourit places. They´re always more expensive. IU hope you stay in youth hostels. Talk with any European who will.

Rule 1: If they ask too many personal questionsw, get away from ém.
Uuuse a Rick Ssteves money belt that fits passport, plane tic and only other things in the funny instructions.
Mmine saved my asss 3 times. And yes, Ggod will lewt it happen and does.

We stayed in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland at the Valley hostel for 6 nights. It has a view of the Eiger, Monch and the Jungfrau. Very nice kitchen with a dining area. Wonderful host. Day trips to Gimmelwald, Murren, Wengen and Interlaken for more shopping and night life.

We did not find the area expensive.

Enjoy your trip Ladies!!!!

I'd skip Bordeaux. It's a big city and not much there of interest, IMHO. Toulouse is OK, but I like Carcassonne and some of the smaller towns in the region better. Actually, I like driving around the Pyrenees foothills in this region the best. If renting a car for a day or so is in the budget, this is a good place to do it.

The train connections over the Pyrenees via Latour de Carol can be tricky. If you have an extra day, you can take the Train Jaune down the valley from You can also go the main line route Toulouse-Carcassonne-(change at Narbonne)-Barcelona. I have found the bus to be faster, more comfortable, more direct, and cheaper for this route. I used to do it on a regular basis.

General advice: stay longer in fewer places and get to know them. Take day trips from central locations like Rome, Barcelona, Carcassonne and Paris.

I did say I was going to cross post this question. All the advice is helpful, in fact its lovely when more than one person recommends the same place.
