My daughter and I are visiting Santorini mid-February and I'm looking for ideas on where to stay that's budget but not a dorm. Ideas? Favorite eating places? All help gratefully appreciated.

simple tip: this branch covers long-dist travels over more countries. specific Qs like this are best
posted on the relevant country branch, and READ first: you are not nr 1 to ask this. tipically lower budget (but IN season not really that cheap anymore) stays on GR isles are in private rooms. As you can also read in about ANY guidebook.

If you find my question irritating, just ignore it, ok? It's hard to find budget ideas in Santorini in February, because many places seem to be closed.

Hi, looking at your earlier posts I notice you have only one week for both Athens and Santorini. I'm assuming you'll take the ferry to Santorini. It will take you a full day to get there and another day to return, that doesn't leave much time on the island. In addition, as it's winter the ferry could be delayed or not run at all due to bad weather. Santorini will not be at its best in February and should there be bad weather you'll not see much at all.

As you have such a short period of time it might be worth using Athens as a base to do a couple of day trips on the mainland, and spend some quality time really enjoying the Athens itself.

Having said all that, and I don't know what dates your travelling, but the weather forecast for Santorini next week ranges from cloudy to sunny days with a max temp of around 12celsius. Athens weather seems similar.

Also, what is your idea of budget accommodation? It's difficult for people to make recommendations as we all have different ideas of budget.
