Point to Point train tickets or interrail pass...

I don't see how it gives you more freedom and flexibility than just buying as you go?

Generally in Eastern Europe buying as you go is cheaper, however the only way to be sure is to add up all the costs of point to point tickets and compare them to a rail pass.

Also some of the time it is going to be quicker and/or cheaper to take a bus or mashrutka. Some places train travel is not even possible (e.g. South Croatia). Buying tickets as you go leaves that option rather than having to take trains everywhere.

cheap isnt the word id use, but depending how much you use them there can often be little difference in price either way. to be honest if you want flexibility, buying as you go is the way to do it. it also gives you the option of coach/bus or even plane on a budget carrier.

Agree with #1 and 2...the most ''freedom and flexibility'' possible is buy as you go.

The only possible reason to buy a pass is to save money..which you probably won't in Eastern Europe,unless you are travelling large distances every day.....

from what ive figued out in my research (im planning a trip to eastern europe in may) it seems like in most cases buying a bis ticket on the day is the best option. trains arent always possible and booking in advsnce doesnt gove a huge discount. i scrapped any plans of an inter rail pass fairly early on in my planning

Everyone here has given sound advice, an inter-rail ticket is totally uneconomical in E. Europe.

The OP needs to learn to communicate clearly and the readers need to learn how to read a poorly written sentence. LOL

He is saying they realize point to point is more flexible, but is it ecomical, is his question. The 'it' at the beginning of the sentence refers to the 'tickets as we need them' at the end of the sentence.
